In Florence, on the homonymous square overlooking the Santa Maria Novella basilica, an icon of the Renaissance, The Place embodies the quintessence of the most refined tailor-made hospitality and attention to detail.
Inside one of the historic buildings overlooking the famous fourteenth-century square, The Place is the perfect address for those who love the sophisticated atmosphere of a cultural salon combined with 5-star hospitality that pampers guests during every moment of their stay.
The structure is, in fact, part of a group synonymous with excellence in the art of hospitality: The Hospitality Experience of the Babini family who also manages the Londra Palace in Venice, the historic Hotel d’Angleterre and Beau Rivage acquired by the property back in 1938, and the Borgo dei Conti resort in Umbria.
The Place is synonymous with sartorial hospitality, a place where guests are welcomed as if they were at the home of friends who tailormade for them a special stay.
(Claudio Meli, General Manager)
In 2021 The Place Firenze underwent a major restyling which gave it a completely new allure, in an ensemble of reassuring timless atmospheres, contemporary design and artistic references celebrating the city and its sublime art. Thus, among velvet sofas, always-lit fireplaces and furniture collections that interpret the Regency style with originality, beautiful unique pieces by the best local artisans stand out.
From Moleria Locchi crystals to the decorated tables by Bianco Bianchi, from Valbisenzio fabrics to Ginori ceramics. These are just some of the prestigious partners of the The Place of Wonders project, the Babini family Foundation aimed at promoting and protecting the Italian creative and artisanal heritage through many precious initiatives to support the arts and their dissemination.
The hotel offers 20 rooms di cui 8 suites, complete with every comfort, such as The Green Place ambient fragrance created ad hoc by Oscar Quagliarini and the sheets embroidered with The Place logo, a tribute to the decorations created by Leon Battista Alberti for the facade of Santa Maria Novella.
The restaurant, orchestrated by chef Asso Migliore, offers a beautiful dehors where you can enjoy an exclusive panoramic view of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella from morning to evening. From breakfast to dinner, the menu is based on the best Tuscan products and delicious recipes that satisfy any palate.
At The Place, breakfast is also a ritual to be savored with all the senses. The view first and foremost, certainly satisfied by a wonderful mise en place designed by Ginori, in addition to the aesthetics of the dishes masterfully executed by the kitchen brigade. You can choose between the Italian breakfast, with a delicious basket of croissants and fresh fruit, or the healthy one which includes, among the options, avocado toast, omelettes or yogurt with granola.
The house signature cocktails are also delicious, such as the Prince of Florence, served in a silver goblet, or the Gentleman, a surprising Smocky Negroni artfully presented by the expert F&B Manager Zaccaria Medda and his assistant Aniss Drissi who, together with their team, offer a memorable experience to fall in love with this place and include it, rightfully, among the most “Secret” addresses in Italy.
The Secret
Among the common areas of the hotel the Studiolo is a relaxation area that celebrates the Renaissance decorations of the Basilica. On the walls you can see beautiful lamps, made by local artisans, which recall the equinoctial Armilla on the façade of Santa Maria Novella.
