The Hoxton has chosen Florence for its second Italian “home”, after Rome. A tale that intertwines the history of the revolutionary English brand with the authentic soul of Enoteca Violetta.
The Hoxton Legend: From Shoreditch to the World
The story of The Hoxton began in 2006 in Shoreditch, London, in the neighborhood of the same name. The idea was simple yet groundbreaking: to transform the hotel from a place of passage into a “neighborhood hub”. With its open-house approach, the group, now led by Sharan Pasricha, has redefined the concept of lifestyle in the hotel industry.
In Florence, this philosophy has found a home in two magnificently restored historic buildings, where the brand’s signature industrial design blends with marble, coffered ceilings, and the innate elegance of Florentine nobility.
A purple marble altar dedicated to conviviality: Enoteca Violetta is the corner of Florence where the tradition of winemaking marries the contemporary aesthetic of The Hoxton.
Enoteca Violetta
Opened in 2025, Enoteca Violetta, near Piazza della Libertà, is a contemporary tribute to the city’s historic wine bars and wine merchants, but with an international feel reminiscent of Parisian wine bistros.
– What to drink: The wine list is a celebration of artisanal and natural wines, from Tuscan biodynamics to French sparkling wines from small wineries, to Orange Wines that defy convention.
– What to eat: The kitchen offers signature small plates ranging from Croque Violette and Parmesan spheres to iconic dishes like Casentino Grey Pork Katsu Sando or Montespertoli Chicken.
The beautiful six-meter Calacatta Viola marble counter is surrounded by dark wood details, numerous works of art by local artists, Italian-designed chandeliers, and alabaster lamps.
The Alassio Restaurant
Moving from the intimate wine bar to the light of the internal courtyard, the evening can continue at the Alassio restaurant, a dive into the Italian summers of the 1950s and 1960s.
Under an imposing glass ceiling that floods the space with natural light, Alassio offers cuisine that celebrates the Tyrrhenian coast: the freshest fish, signature raw seafood, and pasta dishes that exude the aromas of the sea and citrus, all served in a chic atmosphere of rattan seating, plants, and service that evokes a warm welcome from days gone by.
The Rooms: The Aesthete’s Rest
The rooms at The Hoxton Florence are a stylish retreat. Divided into the brand’s iconic categories (Shoebox, Cosy, Roomy), they blend modern comfort with period details such as leather headboards, Roberts radios, and retro bathtubs.
The Secret
Nestled in the heart of the palace’s foundations is La Riserva, an exclusive tavern dedicated to private dinners and tastings.
