In Florence, Tratto is born from a collaboration between Trattoria Contemporanea, 1 Michelin-starred restaurant in Como, and the 5-star lifestyle-hotel chain W, to create a performance of delicious flavors, technique, and avant-garde spirit.
Tratto, opening in 2025 alongside the W Florence hotel, is an original gastronomic concept born from the vision of the culinary collective behind Trattoria Contemporanea, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Lomazzo, in the province of Como.
Inspired by Italy’s rich gastronomic traditions and driven by a sense of modern experimentation, Tratto complements the hotel’s other convivial spaces, from the W Lounge with its internal courtyard to the panoramic rooftop, perfect for an aperitivo.
An environment where the design of the W Florence – made of atmospheric lighting, marble and 1960s velvet – meets the “no-holds-barred” philosophy of the young talents of Trattoria Contemporanea.
The Menu: A Trattoria Looking to the Future
Tratto offers the typical informal conviviality of Italian trattorias, where the staff’s energy is an integral part of the experience, on a journey through excellent local ingredients and cosmopolitan insights.
– Signature Dishes: All courses are designed to be shared, as, as the menu states, each dish “could be an appetizer but also a main course.” From eggplant parmigiana to grilled pork bombette, from risotto alla pizzaiola to tagliolini al limone, every dish is a feast for the eyes, among copper pans and porcelain featuring irreverent slogans created exclusively for Tratto.
– The dessert trolley: this is the final twist, a triumphant return to the aesthetics of grand hotel dining rooms, reinterpreted with the rock spirit of Trattoria Contemporanea. Don’t expect the classic dessert menu: here, dessert arrives at the table with the theatricality of a ritual, an explosion of colors and pop geometrics that breaks the rigidity of fine dining.
The Art of Entertainment
Open in the evenings, while offering a more sophisticated lunch menu, Tratto is more than just a restaurant. Thanks to its partnership with W Lounge, the experience is enriched with signature cocktails and DJ sets, making every evening unique and special (the events calendar can be found here).
The Secret
The W Florence building once housed a bank’s offices on the ground floor and two floors below, while the upper floors were reserved for the Grand Hotel Majestic. The bank’s large central hall has been transformed into the W Lounge and Tratto.
