Just steps from Ponte Vecchio, Portrait Firenze, the flagship hotel of the Lungarno Collection, the Ferragamo family’s hotel group, is home to the Caffè dell’Oro bistro, where 1950s glamour meets the essence of refined Florentine style.
The concept: a designer lounge by architect Michele Bönan
Founded in 1995, Lungarno Collection is the group created by the Ferragamo family, which has brought the same values that have distinguished the fashion house since 1927 to the high-end hospitality sector.
Portrait’s design, curated by architect Michele Bönan, is a tribute to postwar Florence, the city of film stars and haute couture. Fine furniture, wood paneling, Dedar fabrics, vintage photographs on the walls depicting historical figures visiting the city, and leather details that recall the masterful craftsmanship of Salvatore Ferragamo.
In every Portrait location, you can recognize the uniqueness of a “handmade” style, profoundly Florentine in the attention to materials, details, and flavors.
Caffè dell’Oro: the bistro with one of the most beautiful views in the world
Caffè dell’Oro is the convivial heart of Portrait. A café and bistro located right along the Arno River, its outdoor tables almost seem to touch the arches of Ponte Vecchio.
The culinary offering is led by Executive Chef Luca Armellino, creating a perfect balance between traditional flavors and cosmopolitan surprises. From Shrimp Tostada to Fregola pasta with saffron sauce, scallop carpaccio, bottarga, and glasswort, from Felicetti Monograno Farro Tubetto, Tuscan hay cream, and a mushroom variation, to Ravioli del Plin filled with Cintale ragù, fermented blueberries, and nervetti chips.
Breakfast to Dinner Options
At Caffè dell’Oro, you can book breakfast from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, with the new buffet offering a selection of flavors from artisanal pastries to leavened products, to a selection of seasonal local dishes. Alternatively, you can enjoy a convivial lunch with an à la carte menu.
In the late afternoon, the bar comes alive with the timeless elegance of aperitifs, right up until dinner, bathed in the romantic lights of the Lungarno degli Acciaiuoli.
Sitting at Caffè dell’Oro is one of the Florentines’ most beloved rituals, watching life rush by along the Ponte Vecchio and feeling like a character in a 1950s movie.
The Secret
Many of the photos hanging on the walls come from the Locchi Archive, Florence’s “visual diary.” The Ferragamo family has chosen, in particular, real-life moments from the 1950s and 1960s, such as the divas Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren captured in private moments during their visits to the Ferragamo boutique in Palazzo Spini Feroni.
