Nestled in the Florentine fashion district, La Gemma concept hotel keeps the promise housed in its name. Its five-star hospitality is revealed in every detail, from the interior design to the spa to the extraordinary culinary proposal curated by chef Paulo Airaudo.
A true gem to be discovered in the heart of the most iconic Florence, just a stone’s throw from Piazza della Signoria and the Florence Cathedral, always enchanting with its imposing grace.
La Gemma Hotel offers 39 rooms including 15 suites, a delightful private spa with luxury personalized treatments, a cocktail bar open from morning to evening, also perfect for an aperitif or brunch, and Luca’s fine dining restaurant open for dinner.
Our ‘residences’ are places full of soul, with excellent hospitality and services. The real luxury today is time and experience for people who choose how best to live each moment.
(Laura Stopani, General Manager)
Located inside the prestigious 19th-century Paoletti palace, the concept hotel features an interior design with a contemporary flavor, entrusted to the creativity of the Milanese design studio Gemini by Elena and Giulia Sella.
A hymn to the magnificence of the nearby Duomo cathedral, whose distinctive hues, from deep greens to delicate pinks and ivories, are echoed in the interior design project. Soft velvets and precious fabrics reign supreme, giving the whole a warm and very chic atmosphere. The hotel boasts the retro elegance of the early 1900s, such as in the beautiful handmade king-size beds that house Dorelan mattresses, ornate silk walls, bronze details in the snow-white marble bathrooms, some with bathtubs.
Also enchanting is the cocktail bar, which with its interplay of ceiling mirrors and refractions creates a truly scenic “Alice in Wonderland” effect, perfect for indulging in a cocktail, perhaps accompanied by the gourmet tapas of the day, or for a tasty light lunch.
On the second floor of the hotel, Luca’s restaurant is the perfect address for a special dinner. Entrusted to the direction of Michelin-starred chef Paulo Airaudo, who oversaw its eno-gastronomic proposal, the fine dining masterfully reinterprets the cornerstones of Tuscan cuisine, giving guests original dishes and well-defined flavors where creativity, taste and surprise go hand in hand.
The menu is seasonal, and varies according to the chef’s flair and the raw materials available. It ranges from meat dishes, such as pigeon, which is also the protagonist of the extraordinary Cappelletti pasta, to the freshest fish such as monkfish and red prawns from Mazara del Vallo, to unusual ingredients that give an original twist to the dishes, such as the fragrant fermented yuzu.
The wine list is remarkable, ranging from the best Tuscan labels to natural organic wines and prestigious bubbles from all over the world. Dulcis in fundo, the à la carte breakfast, always preceded by an entrée of fragrant croissants and fresh bread with butter and jam, could be served in the dining room, at the cocktail bar tables or, for a more romantic start to the day, even in your room.
More than a breakfast, it is an authentic pampering with that extra touch in pure La Gemma style. And if you want to treat yourself or give yourself a special experience, during the warm season La Gemma offers an extraordinary terrace with a view of Brunelleschi’s dome where you can sip a drink in sweet company.
The Secret
The name La Gemma originates from the acronym of the names of the four Cecchi siblings – Ginevra, Edoardo, Maria Sole, Massimiliano, Andrea, and their parents, Luca and Alessandra – who, to celebrate the birth of their hospitality project, decided to wear an identical bracelet each with a gem of a different colour, mirroring the distinctive colours of the next concept hotels to open in Italy.
